Is it a wetsuit swim?
Maybe. Triathlon Australia rules apply so if the water temperature is more than 22 degrees wetsuits are not permitted (except for 60 years+). At our last event on May 20, 2023 the water temperature was 21.8 degrees.

I own a MOUNTAIN BIKE bike, which triathlon should I compete in?
The Straddie Salute – this is an 15km cycle which includes 10km of 4WD track.

Are the roads closed to vehicle traffic on the cycle course?
No they aren’t. Roads will remain open to traffic, however all intersections are managed by traffic controllers to ensure vehicles are managed when cyclists are on-course.
When on the open road, cyclists must stay left at all times – standard Australian road rules apply.
I haven’t done a lot of open-water swimming but am reasonably swim-fit, will I manage 750m in the ocean?
An ocean swim is always going to be more challenging than the pool but we have designed the course to cater for all abilities. The 750m course goes with the sweep so once you round the first buoy you’ll be flying!
How tough is the Straddie run course?
The run course is 8.5km and involves a variety of terrain including 2 beach sections, bush trails, boardwalk, stairs, sealed roads and footpath. The course is spectacular but don’t underestimate it. We recommend that you leave plenty in the tank after the bike leg..
How do I know my entry is confirmed?
Once you have completed your online entry form you will receive an automatic confirmation email. Please keep this as proof of entry.
Will I receive any other information before the event?
Yes you will. A comprehensive Competitor Briefing will be emailed to all competitors approximately 2 weeks before the race.
