This fun event is for Kids aged 5 to 12 years and features a 400m run, a 2km bike ride and a final 400m run.

The Event

There are two Age Categories, 5 – 9 years and 10 – 12 years, with the older kids starting just before the younger kids.

Kids run a lap of Point Lookout Oval (grass) and then collect their bike from Transition (and put their helmet on) just like the adults. They then push their bikes out to the road where traffic will be stopped by Traffic Control officials for the duration of the Bike leg to keep all competitors safe.

The Bike leg is an “out and back” course (one lap) on the road with a well-marked turnaround point approximately one kilometre along East Coast Road towards Dunwich.

On return to the Oval kids dismount where shown by the Triathlon Queensland officials and then push their bikes back into Transition where they rack their bikes and set off on the final 400m lap of the Oval.

After crossing under the finish arch and smiling for the camera all kids will be presented with a finishers medal and well deserved drink. The 4 category winners will also be presented with a prize at prizegiving at the Beach Hotel at 3pm.

Kids just need a pair of runners, a proper fitting safety helmet and a roadworthy bike. Note that all children need to be able to ride safely without the assistance of trainer wheels.
